The EST Academic Board oversees the test creation and validity of the EST.

The EST I is designed to enable students to apply to universities, while the EST II is required by certain colleges (practical colleges like the Faculty of Medicine & Engineering) to test skills in Science and Math subjects (Math level 1, Math level 2, Biology, Physics, Chemistry).
The EST I includes three mandatory sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math.
The EST I tackles communication skills, comprehension, critical and logical reasoning; all these are basic requirements for a university student. The EST I also includes an optional essay section measuring students' language writing skills.
The EST II is a subject-based test in Science and Math. The EST subject tests cover Math, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, with each subject test taken separately.
The EST II measures basic scientific knowledge, scientific reasoning, and higher-order thinking skills, proving the abilities and capabilities of the student to pursue education in specific majors related to engineering, science and health care. The choice of subject tests depends on the majors the students are applying for.
The main study materials needed to prepare for the EST is the curriculum material which is taught in the American Diploma schools and the British education system key stages 4 and 5. Academic Assessment Ltd. will publish in 2023 study guides and practice guides.
The student does not need private lessons. The school and the school teachers can provide the student with all the learning opportunities needed to get excellent EST grades.
It is worth noting that the official EST scoring does not penalize wrong answers. In other words, the total raw score is the sum of the number of questions answered correctly.

The EST exams are scored electronically. The exams are authored by experts from around the world and reviewed by a board of experts based in the USA. Once the tests are administered, the scores are assigned automatically to each item to produce the student scores, with the exception of the optional essay which is scored manually. These scores are then reviewed to apply the psychometric analysis by the EST Board of Experts before the results are issued.
The EST assesses the student’s skills knowledge.The EST is structured as follows:
EST I:
– Literacy Test 1 (Writing and Language): 35 minutes - 44 multiple choice questions
– Literacy Test 2 (Reading): 65 minutes - 52 multiple choice questions
– Math (without calculator): 30 minutes - 20 multiple choice questions
– Math (with calculator): 55 minutes - 38 multiple choice questions
– Essay (Optional): 50 minutes
EST II:
– Math Level 1: 60 minutes - 50 multiple choice questions (Graphing or scientific calculator is allowed)
– Biology: 60 minutes - 80 multiple choice questions (Scientific calculator is allowed)
– Physics: 60 minutes - 75 multiple choice questions (Scientific calculator is allowed)
– Chemistry: 60 minutes - 85 multiple choice questions (Scientific calculator is allowed)
– Math Level 2: 60 minutes - 50 multiple choice questions (Graphing or scientific calculator is allowed)
The EST is delivered in Egypt. In 2024, the EST will launch in Jordan, KSA, and UAE.
Students who want to apply to the faculties or institutes of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer, Fine Arts (Architecture section), and Urban Planning, have to take two subjects in EST II, in addition to EST I.
For all other majors, only EST I is enough.
For the faculties or institutes of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Veterinary Medicine, and Nursing, the two subjects required are Biology and one of the following: Math Level 1, Physics, Chemistry, or Math Level 2.
For the faculties or institutes of Engineering, Information Technology, Computer, Fine Arts (Architecture section), and Urban Planning, the two subjects required are Math Level 1 or Math Level 2 and one of the following: Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
The results are usually issued within three weeks of the exam. The students are emailed their unofficial results. If they require the certified report, students are given the opportunity to order any score report (including older ones) for a limited time after issuing the scores of each trial.

Payments are non-transferable, but students can cancel their tests before the trial registration deadline and get a refund for a fee determined on the price list. Changing from EST I with Essay to EST I without Essay (within the registration deadline) results in forfeiting the difference. Refunds take 7-8 weeks to be processed.

The EST I and EST II scores can be used for up to 3 years after the test results.
Students do not need to certify a trial directly after its scores are out. They can wait until they take all the trials that they want and then order a certified copy of their selected score report.
Students are given the opportunity to order any score report (including older ones) for a limited time after issuing the scores of each trial.
To order a report, please access your EST account and visit the "Services" link in the Student Dashboard.
If you have not created an account, please create an account using the same email that you used in your previous attempts. The data in your current EST account is what will appear in your report, so make sure it is accurate and complete.
When you select each report, please specify the email address that you used for that exam even if it matches the email address on the account. Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you select a wrong report or do not indicate the correct email address, you risk losing the payment.
For students applying to Egyptian universities, reports are printed and sent to the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for certification.
Once they are certified, they are shipped by courier to students who are then notified by email with the instructions to track their packages. Students need to ensure that they have included the full information for proper delivery. Failure to deliver the package results in returning it to our office without a refund. After the trial registration deadline, a test center is assigned to each student based on their location and subject to availability.
Students are then contacted by email to view their Admission Tickets in their Student Dashboard and print them to bring them to the test.

Once centers are assigned, they cannot be changed.
Students in Egypt can only pay online using a credit card which supports 3D security (ability to send a one-time password by SMS to confirm that you authorize the payment). If the card does not support 3D security, payment might fail and the student needs to contact the bank to check for other options.
While we ask students to indicate the universities they plan to apply to, this is currently for statistical purposes only. For the time being, students still have to share their official score report with the university of their choice.
Students need to input the number of their National ID and upload a colored copy of their ID in their test application.
Students whose National ID has not been issued yet can upload a colored copy of their passport or birth certificate in the National ID field. They will still have to input the number of the National ID in its correct field though.
Non-Egyptian students need to input the number of their passport and upload a colored copy of the passport in their test application.
All students should bring their Admission Ticket and a copy of an identification document that contains a photo (National ID or passport). Birth certificates are not accepted for admission to the test center.
We launched the new website (https://www.estests.com) with the May 2021 trials, and did not merge the old accounts from the previous trials into it. So if you have not registered for any trial starting May, your old credentials will not work and you will have to create a new account in order to register for any EST session starting May 2021 or order previous score reports.
You can use the email address that you used for a previous trial, and email us to merge older scores into the new account.
We have merged the old accounts into the new website for all students who registered by September 2021. If you have registered after September 2021, please email us indicating the previous rounds (and the email used if different from the one on the new website), and we will merge the scores of trials taken before the launch of the new website in May 2021.
While matching is applicable for the EST, we do not issue a single report that combines the scores from different trials. Instead, students order the certified reports of both trials and submit them to the university which will then apply superscoring when assessing the student's application at its discretion.
The email is not listed on the score report. It is the name and ID or passport number that need to be the same for both reports. So to match between two trials taken under different emails, the student can simply order the official score reports for both trials and submit them to the university.
All national Egyptian and Jordanian universities acknowledge the EST. For private universities, please check directly with the university to which you plan to apply.

EST trials count for students in Grades 11 and 12. However, as a test institution, we have no restrictions for entering trials even for students who are in Grade 10, as they can enter EST trials as a form of practice.
As for the first counted trial, you will have to check with the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council of Universities to check which trial would be the first counted EST trial for you.
